We aren't in Arizona Anymore....

Slacking? Yes.  Sorry? Of course!   It has been VERY busy around here, and FINALLY found the time to just, relax and type.  We have been here almost a month, and let me tell you, Nebraska is sure a slap in the face on how different it is from Arizona.  Don't get me wrong, I knew there would be changes, but my oh my...it sure has been an adventure.  So, let me take you through what I have learned so far about Nebraska life.

1)  Nebraska life is...sssssssssslllllllllloooooooowwwwwwww.   Grand Island has their own news channel, but that is a joke.  They don't even talk about Grand Island, because NOTHING HAPPENS HERE! The headline the other night was someone lost control and ran their car into someones house.  Annnnnnd then they talked about the drought and loss of corn.

2)  PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT A GAS PEDAL IS! Oh my goodness. My poor husband has to hear me every time in the car, "The gas pedal is on the right, and it makes the car move!"  The top speed around town is 45, and that is only because it is a highway going through town. If you are driving down other streets....no more than 30-35 mph.

3) In Arizona, when the light turned green....you gunned it.  Here, not so much.  They take their time stepping on the gas.  But you do have to be cautious, because if you gun it, someone from the turning lane going the opposite direction will hit you.  If they are turning, and the light turns green, they turn right away without waiting for you to go first.  It gets a little scary....

4) If you wave to someone...they wave back. *faints*  You wave to someone in Arizona you either get the bird or shot. Also, people will actually talk to you if you talk to them. Mom and I LOVE talking to strangers in the store. In Arizona people glare and walk away.. Here...they will chat your eat off!!

5)  If a worker, like the sprinkler man comes to your house, he will take the time to help you fix  something else.  This happened with our sweet neighbor next door. Grass had started to cover her stone path, and she was cleaning it while the sprinkler man was there.  He took the time to help her clear it!!

6)  It is ok to be religious and show it around here.  Oh my goodness, I have never seen so many God bumper stickers, license plates, and window decals.  People are proud they believe in God!

7) They younger kids aka high schoolers LOVE the base in their cars. Holy cow.  Sometimes a car will drive by, and our windows rattle because the base is so loud. You can't hear the music, but sure the base!

8) There are beautiful Farmer's Markets around, that have the BEST fruit and veggies EVER!!!!!!!! We have the juiciest watermelon last week!  It was just AMAZING!!!!

9) There are no scorpions, tarantulas, or rattle snakes I need to look for when going outside! It is the best feeling in the world to walk around barefoot and not get hurt, or poked by a cactus! I am barefoot SO much around here! My dang dog did try to pee on a garder snake last week though...he isn't the brightest! hehe

10) The slow pace is nice.  I always felt rushed in Arizona, and had to be on the constant go. But, here, it's ok to take your time in the store, and you don't need to rush putting your money in your purse at the store.  The clerk will talk to you while you organize everything before moving on to the next person.  There will always be good and bad things about every state. But, for our first time living out of state from our families, this is a good start.  The simple life is very relaxing.  So, sit back and enjoy the freshness of the air, and warm sun if your face, here in Nebraska.
